Bryan’s Gil impending move to Tottenham spells bad news for some of their Premier League rivals.
The two clubs are believed to be in final negotiations over a £21.6million deal, which will also see Erik Lamela go in the opposite direction.
As a result Sevilla’s sporting director Monchi is under no immediate pressure to sell French defender Jules Kounde, who Manchester City are believed to have had a bid rejected for last summer.
Kounde, 22, is under contract at the LaLiga side until the summer of 2024, meaning that Sevilla hold all the cards as things stand.
The news will come as a blow to Chelsea and Manchester United, who are both interested in Kounde, while Real Madrid have also retained an interest.
Tottenham’s new director of football, Fabio Paratici, is reported to have a great relationship with Kounde’s agency, but despite that a move is unlikely to come to fruition.
Kounde wants his next club to be playing in the Champions League, so with Spurs competing in this season’s Europa Conference League it looks a distant dream for them to finalise a move right now.
